Skiing and Snowboarding on a Budget By Lydia Quinn
Saturday, February 7, 2009

It's winter and you love to ski or snowboard, but like many, is the tighter your budget from last year? No fear, it is still possible to enjoy a ski vacation in the winter budget. Here are some tips:

Travel

Consider the ski destination that is less expensive. Try to ski close to home. Living in Los Angeles? Then consider one of the ski resorts close to home, such as Mammoth Mountain or Big Bear. Skiing near home to save on travel costs and travel time. Some resorts even offer a special for a local act.

Transportation

When you fly to the ski destination, you will need transportation to and from the airport. If you rent a vehicle, he will most likely be an SUV, which is a gas hog. More often than not, you do not even need to use the rental car lot. A much more economical option to take the airport shuttle. Not only the cost of much less than the rent, but you will also save money by not have to spend on gas, insurance and other costs associated with the lease.

Tools

If you're on a budget, but your old ski equipment does not seem to die, why not rent the equipment, is not it? Rent is very effective if you do not plan to ski in more than one or two times during the season.

Timing

You will find more deals on ski packages, transport and resort if you are willing to be flexible with time. Could have acted better during the low season, not on the weekends and in season. You also want to avoid planning trips all around the holidays. You will pay more than around the holidays since more people tend to not have time for them. So spend the Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, MLK Day, Valentine's Day, St, Patrick's Day and Easter if you want to avoid paying more.

Accommodation

You will find a good one if you time it right, but not flexible in the choice of residence will expand your options even more. Do not forget to compare prices by calling around to all the lodges and resorts in a region. Do not forget to ask for special handling.

Package Deals

One of the best ways to ski on a budget for a package deal. Hotel, airline and travel are often used to handle the business or to dispose of excess inventory with affordable prices. Package deals can often including air, transportation, meals and even the lift pass. Find great package deals at many online travel sites. You should also consider travel to see the last choice. Most can act if you're ready to travel on short notice.
